Makawao Merchants Association
The Makawao Merchants Association (MMA) promotes a positive business environment that contributes to the community and economic vitality of the Makawao area.
The Makawao Merchants Association’s primary function is to organize monthly themed events that enhance the character of our town while promoting our established businesses.
Kicked off in 2012, “The ‘Makawao Town Friday Party’ monthly event series offers a unique opportunity for the Maui public to kick-off the weekend in leisurely exploration of historic Makawao, connect and mingle with the many merchants, artists and neighbors in the area, and to enjoy a festive outdoor event in the quaint atmosphere the town provides. In addition to appealing to the local community, the Makawao Town Friday Party is an excellent opportunity for Maui’s visitors to explore Makawao’s one-of-a-kind town center.” The program is supported by a grant issued by Maui County’s Office of Economic Development.
In the future, we would like improve the lifestyle and business climate in Makawao Town through attention to security, cleanliness, visibility, marketing, place-making and branding of the area known as historic Makawao Town through the management of additional funds received from public grants, private donations and membership dues.
